LITA LOVESTONE
Lita Lovestone has spent 25 years asking what cloth can hold — what meaning, what beauty, what intention can be woven into a thing made by hand. Working from her studio in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, she creates handwoven wall pieces that live at the intersection of fine art and sacred craft. Natural fibers, hand-painted warps, and mixed-media elements come together in work that is technically rigorous and quietly alive. No two pieces are the same.

This piece is woven from that meeting point. Handpainted Tencel yarn moves through a gradation from celestial blue into the deep greens and rusts of the living earth, each color transition marking a passage between realms. The central panel — handwoven linen with gold metallic weft — forms the vertical axis itself, the luminous spine that connects above and below. The cross form that emerges is not imposed but structural, arising organically from the architecture of the work.
