Enrique Guillen.

Mexico City, 1983

He holds a degree in Visual Arts from the University of Guadalajara (2015). He studied under José Ignacio Maldonado and Margarette Dawitt in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, from 2001 to 2003.

His work stems from an inquiry into the human condition and the observation of nature. Interested in the concepts of space and movement in painting, he approaches figuration through an expressionist and gestural lens.

Guillén has held solo and group exhibitions in Mexico and the United States at venues such as the Museo Universitario del Chopo, the Querétaro City Museum, the SHCP Museum, the AICM Gallery, and the Mexican Consulate in Texas, among others.

In 2015, he collaborated on a series of murals for the Museo de los Conspiradores (Museum of the Conspirators) in the city of Querétaro.

In 2008, he won third place in the State of Mexico’s "State Youth Award," and in 2017, he received an honorable mention at the First Luis Nishizawa Landscape Biennial.

He has conducted figure drawing workshops at institutions in Michoacán and the State of Mexico. He currently teaches painting for the Visual Arts degree program at the Instituto Allende.
